1. Who We Are
This Privacy Policy applies to the Android version of Casual Ledger, a lightweight ledger app for everyday budgeting and savings planning.
Casual Ledger does not provide loans, credit decisions, investment services, banking services, insurance, money transfers, or payment processing. The app is intended only to help you record and organize your own financial notes.
2. Information We Handle
The Android app is designed so that your ledger records and savings goals are stored locally on your device by default. Some optional features may require permission or limited network access, as described below.

| Photos and camera | Receipt images, bill screenshots, camera photos | To save receipt or bill images with your record when you choose to add them | Optional |
| Device, app, and diagnostic data | App version, device model, operating system, IP address, network status, crash logs, Android Advertising ID where available | Security, debugging, performance, fraud prevention, attribution, analytics, and push notification delivery where enabled | Some data may be collected automatically by the app or SDKs |
| Feedback content | Messages, screenshots, and details you submit through feedback or support channels | To respond to your request and improve the app | Optional |
3. Android Permissions
Casual Ledger requests permissions only when they support a feature you choose to use.
- Camera: used to take receipt or bill photos.
- Photos or media images: used to select receipt images or bill screenshots from your device.
- Location: used to add a place label to a finance record.
- Contacts: used to select a contact to link to a record. We do not upload your full address book for the A-side ledger feature.
- Internet and network state: used for support, attribution, diagnostics, remote configuration, location label lookup, and service communication.
- Notifications: may be used for reminders or service messages if this feature is enabled and you allow it.
- Advertising ID: may be used for app install attribution, analytics, and measurement, subject to your Android settings.
If you deny an optional permission, you can still use the core ledger features, but the related optional attachment, such as location, contact, or photo, may not be available.
4. How We Use Information
- To let you create, edit, delete, and view income and expense records.
- To calculate weekly, monthly, and yearly spending insights.
- To manage savings goals, progress, and deposit logs.
- To maintain login state, local profile information, and basic preferences.
- To respond to feedback or support requests.
- To improve app reliability, prevent abuse, measure installs, and understand feature usage.
- To comply with law, platform rules, and security obligations.
5. Local Storage and Network Use
Your ledger entries, savings goals, selected receipt image paths, selected contact details, and optional location labels are stored locally on your device by default.
Some services may require network access. For example, location labels may use geocoding services, support requests may be sent to us, and app attribution or diagnostics may be processed by SDK providers.
Casual Ledger does not connect to your bank account, does not move money, and does not use your finance records to decide loan, credit, or investment eligibility.
6. Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers only as needed to operate, secure, measure, and improve the app.
Depending on the build and features enabled, service providers may include hosting and API providers, geocoding providers, push notification services, analytics and attribution SDKs, and crash or diagnostic tools. Examples may include Firebase services, Adjust, Meta or Facebook App Events, and system services provided by Google or Android.
These providers process information according to their own privacy terms and only for service-related purposes.
7. Retention and Deletion
Local ledger data remains on your device until you edit it, delete it, clear app storage, uninstall the app, or use a deletion feature if available.
Support messages, account records, attribution logs, and diagnostic data may be retained for as long as reasonably needed for customer support, security, analytics, legal compliance, and audit purposes.
You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information by contacting us. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
Casual Ledger is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
10. International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries or regions other than where you live. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to protect information according to this policy.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted in the app or on our website with an updated date.
